About Me
Kathryn Chappell studied Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design, London.
Early works are focused around themes of identity and nostalgia, with an emphasis on family resemblance and past and present in sepia tones.
A "Documentary" series forms a visual diary of the artist's critically ill grandmother. She appears disorientated in a hospital bed.
Narrative is another idea common to many early pieces, sprung from a love of literature and film and inspired by screenplay interpretations of fictional characters. Recent work focuses on the fragility and natural order of life.
